About Ursuline Senior Services

Ursuline Senior Services provides critically needed community services for the elderly. More importantly, we provide the support and care that one would expect from one's own family. Our employees, many of whom have been with us since 1981, are singly dedicated to the safety, well-being, and comfort of their clients.

The Ursuline difference is a dedication to delivering services through an attitude of family care.

Guardianship Services:

Ursuline Senior Services’ established its guardianship program through a contract with the Allegheny County Department of Aging. This program primarily serves persons who are 60+ in age, low income, are not initially institutionalized and meet the Department of Aging criteria. Today, Ursuline Senior Services is the only agency in Allegheny County to provide such services for this segment of the population. As part of the county contract, Ursuline Senior Services operates a Court Support Program, and also maintains a contract with Kane Regional Nursing Centers to provide services to appropriate residents in their facilities.

Additional to this county-contracted activity, Ursuline Senior Services provides a broad array of guardianship to clients who do not meet the criteria for services both inside and out of Allegheny County. These services are provided through our Private Guardianship and supported by the availability of our Special Needs Trust. We also provide services to individuals residing throughout the southwestern Pennsylvania area and the Cambria County nursing home (Laurel Crest) as well.

Following a national model developed by AARP, this program matches trained volunteers with seniors that need help budgeting and assuring their bills are paid on time. The volunteers prepare bills for payment, assist with checking writing, and balance checkbooks. One of the core concepts of the program is to keep seniors financially independent while assuring that all their monthly obligations are met.

Service Coordination:

With nearly 25 years experience working with seniors, Ursuline Senior Services was poised to meet and face the challenges apparent in present-day public housing facilities, the agency’s newest program offering. The addition of service coordination was a natural extension of the existing array of services provided to the elderly throughout our community.

In addition to information and referral, advocacy, and linking individuals to community resources, the service coordinators throughout the City of Pittsburgh and Allegheny County, working with the residents, arrange recreational activities, health supports, and produce monthly newsletters.
